Google Business Profile.
Learn what Google Business Profile means in modern search and SEO.
Google's free business listing tool that manages how a business appears in Google Search and Maps, including the Local Pack.
Google Business Profile (GBP) is the free tool that allows businesses to manage their presence on Google Search and Maps. The information in a GBP listing—business name, address, phone, hours, categories, photos, posts, and reviews—powers how the business appears in the Local Pack and Knowledge Panel. It is the single most important local SEO asset for businesses serving local customers.
Optimising Your GBP Listing
A fully optimised GBP listing includes: accurate and complete NAP information; the correct primary and secondary categories; a keyword-rich but natural business description; high-quality photos (interior, exterior, products, team); up-to-date business hours including special hours; Q&A populated with common customer questions; regular GBP Posts (offers, events, updates); and products or services listed where applicable.
Reviews and GBP Performance
Reviews are the most visible element of a GBP listing and have the strongest impact on local ranking and click-through rate. Businesses should actively encourage satisfied customers to leave reviews, respond professionally to all reviews (positive and negative), and monitor for fake reviews. Review velocity—earning reviews consistently over time—signals ongoing business activity and customer satisfaction.
