Bing Places for Business.

Learn what Bing Places for Business means in modern search and SEO.

Part of speechnounOriginProper noun Bing + Old English plæce (open space) + Latin businessus

Microsoft's free local business listing platform that controls how businesses appear in Bing Maps and Bing search local results.

Bing Places for Business is Microsoft's equivalent of Google Business Profile—a free platform where businesses can claim, verify, and manage their local listing in Bing search results and Bing Maps. A verified Bing Places listing enables businesses to appear in Bing's Local Pack, provide accurate NAP information, add photos, and collect reviews.

Why Bing Places Matters

Bing holds approximately 6–9% of US search market share and is the default search engine for Microsoft Edge and Cortana. More importantly, Bing powers Yahoo Search and portions of DuckDuckGo's results—meaning a well-optimised Bing Places listing reaches a broader audience than Bing's market share alone suggests. AI-powered Bing search (Microsoft Copilot) also draws on Bing Places data for local queries.

Bing Places and Apple Maps

Apple Maps in the US draws local business data partially from Yelp, but Bing Maps data influences results in other regions. Maintaining consistent NAP data across Google Business Profile, Bing Places, and Apple Maps Connect (Apple's equivalent platform) is essential for local SEO completeness, ensuring all major local search surfaces show accurate business information.
